Most if not all ethical breeders have

things they focus on when breeding regardless

of the type of animal they are working with.

For me personally, there are so many things to focus on

I have to take a deep breath and pick my battles.

• Health

• Longevity

• Temperament towards Humans

• Temperament towards other Rats

• Genetics

• Size

• Confirmation/Quality

• Coat type/Quality

• Coat Color/Quality

• Careful selection of holdbacks

• Linebreeding, Inbreeding, and Outcrossing

• Proper Record Keeping

• Sadly, culling when/if needed

• Proper loving homes for those we decide not to keep in our breeding program
