Hello,

I wanted to tell you a little be about myself and my love of rats. I've had rats in my life off and on for 50 years. I got my first one when I was only 8 years old.  I started breeding rats when I was in my 20s, and it only lasted about 3 years due to 4 small children taking up most of my time. Several years later, I once again attempted breeding, and this time, sadly, due to life events, I was only able to sustain it for 2 years. Both times, I purchased my rats from breeders. The first time I had Teddy Rex, Siamese (Blue Point), and Hairless. The Second time, I had Hooded in a variety of colors.

Besides breeding, we have also had at least two pet rats throughout the years. My whole family loves them.

Also in my 20s and 30s, I raised, bred, and trained Rottweilers and German Shepherds and later Great Danes. I still, at times, take clients for private obedience classes.

I have been with my spouse for 30 years, we have 4 adult children and 5 grandchildren, 3 of which we are raising. I have worked with animals my entire life and am now retired. My spouse is a Chef.

At this time, not counting the rats, we have 1 dog, his name is Hagrid; we rescued him at 3 months old; he is currently 4, and he is a Briard. A tuxedo medium hair cat named Kanga, she is a rescue we got in April, a ball python named Athena, she is a pied, and two trantulas, one Brazilian Black, now adult, we have had her 5 years, and a Green Bottle blue baby we got in March 2025. We DO NOT feed any of our rats or their babies to our snake. Her food comes from a reptile store.

We currently have 23 rats! 11 Females and 12 Males. Not all will be bred; some are pets and belong to my grandchildren.

When we got rats this time around, I hadn't intended to breed; we just wanted a few awesome pets. Then I was once again bitten by the breeding bug, and after much discussion and loads of research, and a nudge from my granddaughter, we decided to breed on a small scale to hopefully help improve our lines and bring some amazing babies into the world.

Now that I'm retired, I can devote my time to my passion for rats and working with their genetics.
