Adoption Information & Fees

 

Thank you for your interest in adopting from StormHaven Rattery. Please review the following policies and pricing information carefully before submitting an application.

Application Requirements

​

• All pet homes must complete a Pet Adoption Application.

• Individuals seeking rats for breeding must complete the Breeder Adoption Application.

• We reserve the right to approve or deny any application at our discretion.

 

All approved adopters — both pet and breeder homes — are required to review, agree to, and sign an Adoption Contract and Waiver prior to taking their rats home.

• Applications are valid for six months.

• Returning adopters who are in good standing do not need to submit a new application, regardless of how much time has passed; however,

• A new contract and waiver must still be signed for each adoption.

Housing Requirements

Adopters must provide proof of an appropriate cage setup prior to pickup, unless purchasing a temporary cage from StormHaven Rattery.

Placement Policies

• Pet, breeding, and show rats are never placed as feeders.

• Rats are placed in same-sex pairs at minimum for companionship.

• Rats are placed as pets only, unless written breeding approval is granted.

• Mixed genders are not placed in pet homes. (For example, if adopting males, all rats adopted must be male.)

• If at any time you are unable to care for your rats, they must be returned to StormHaven Rattery.

 

These policies are in place to ensure the lifelong well-being of every rat produced here.

 

Deposits & Payments

 

A $25 non-refundable deposit per rat is required to place a hold.

​

• Deposits are non-refundable if you change your mind for any reason.

• Deposits may be transferred to a future litter, provided availability allows.

• PayPal ($5 transaction fee applies per PayPal transaction)

Final payment is due at pickup.

All prices apply to both males and females unless otherwise specified.
