Adoption Policies & Procedures

Thank you for your interest in adopting from StormHaven Rattery.

To ensure a smooth and professional experience for everyone involved, please review our full adoption process below.

 

1. Application Process

All prospective adopters must complete an application prior to reserving a baby.

• Pet homes must complete the standard adoption application.

• Breeders must complete the designated breeder application.

You will be notified once your application has been reviewed and approved.

2. Availability & Waitlist Policy

If Babies Are Not Currently Available

 

If no babies are available at the time of your approval, you will be asked whether you would like to join our waitlist.

 

To be added to the waitlist -

• You can pay a $20 fee (good for 6 months)

• You can join our website (it's free), and be added to the waitlist for free!

Important:
 

Those on the waitlist:

• Are contacted first about upcoming litters

• Receive first selection from new litters

 

When a litter is upcoming, waitlisted families will receive:

• Estimated due dates

• Variety information (coat type, color, etc.)

• Parent information

• Additional relevant details

 

Approximately two weeks before babies are ready to go home, waitlisted families will be notified that reservations are open.

Families are contacted in order of their placement on the waitlist.

If someone passes, we move to the next person in line.

If you are contacted regarding a litter and need to wait for a future one, please let us know if you wish to remain on the waitlist.

If we do not receive a response within 72 hours, you will be moved to the bottom of the waitlist.

If it happens twice, you will be removed and must restart the application process.

If Babies Are Currently Available

 

If babies are available at the time your application is approved:

• You will be informed which babies remain available.

• You may select your preferred baby/babies.

• A deposit will then be required to reserve them.

3. Deposits & Payment

Deposit Policy

 

A deposit is required to reserve any baby.

​

Approved Deposit Payment Methods:

• Cash

• Cash App

• PayPal ($7 transaction fee applies per transaction; this fee needs to be added to the payment you are sending)

Deposits are required before any baby is considered reserved.

 

Final Payment

Full payment is required at the time of pickup.

 

Accepted Payment Methods:

• Cash - If picking up in person, only cash will be accepted

 

If you are using transport -

• Cash App

• PayPal ($7 transaction fee applies per transaction; this fee needs to be added to the payment you are sending)

 

Failure to complete payment at pickup may result in forfeiture of your deposit.

4. Scheduling Pickup

​

After your deposit is received:

• If babies are not yet ready, you will be contacted approximately 1–2 weeks prior to go-home day to schedule pickup.

• If babies are already ready, you will be contacted within 1–2 business days (excluding weekends) to arrange pickup.

 

Adopters must arrive at their scheduled pickup time.

Failure to arrive at your agreed-upon time may result in forfeiture of deposits and payments.

5. Pickup Policy – Closed Rattery

 

StormHaven Rattery operates as a closed rattery to protect the health and safety of our animals.

 

Upon arrival:

• Adopters will be asked to wait outside.

• We will prepare your contract, waiver, adoption packet, babies, and any additional packages ordered.

• Once the contract and waiver are signed and the remaining balance is paid, your babies and materials will be brought out to you.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in maintaining biosecurity.

6. Transportation Policy

 

StormHaven Rattery is located in Nevada.

• We do not ship by air.

• We offer ground transport throughout the United States and into parts of Canada.

If you are not using ground transport, you are responsible for picking up your babies at the scheduled time.

 

7. Communication Expectations

 

Clear and timely communication is essential.

• Please respond to litter notifications within 72 hours.

• Please notify us promptly if your timing or plans change.

• Respect scheduled pickup times.
